What We Do

Classic Design was founded over 10 years ago and was one of the first natural stone fabricators serving the Emerald Coast.  Since inception, Classic Design has served customers based on broad knowledge of natural stone and dedication to bringing quality workmanship to its customers.

Classic Design is one of the leading importers, fabricators and installers of natural stone products for the home. We have completed thousands of installations of natural stone in luxury homes, condominiums and commercial buildings throughout Northern Florida and Southern Alabama.

Classic Design works with each customer to design products that meet the needs of our customers and provide lasting value and luxury in their homes.   We work through a vast selection of available stones that best serve each specific
application and work through the design details to insure the look and function of each project exceeds expectations.

Classic Design employees (no subcontractors!) work with each customer in designing their project.   We then schedule our technicians to come to your home and make custom templates for your specific installation.   Our own fabricators lay out your templates on the stone (hand selected for your project) and cut each piece to maximize the natural characteristics of the stone. We then shape and profile all edges and details finishing with hand-polishing of all edges. We then contact you to arrange professional installation by our own installation crews.

Natural Stone

Natural stone, quarried from around the world, comes in many beautiful styles, varying in color, pattern, finish, and use.

Color
Granite, Marble and Onyx stones are available in a broad range of colors including elegant black, versatile neutrals, rich
greens, stunning gold, vibrant blues and countless mutil-hued varieties.    The color selections available in natural stone are vast!

Patterns
Natural Stone patterns range from close-featured pebble size patterns to broad, spectacular veins – and everything in between! Close-se-featured patterns create a consistent, uniform look while large-vein patterns create dynamic effects.

Finish
Natural Stones can be polished to a highly reflective luster that brings the rich color and textures of the stone to vibrant life.
Polished finishes are most often used on stone walls, furniture and countertops. Stone can also be honed smooth with a slight reflection.  This finish is highly desirable for stairways, flooring and other high traffic areas.

Flaming is a finishing technique applied to give the surface of the stone a rough, uneven-textured surface. Brushing gives the stone a rough texture. An Antique finish combines flaming and brushing, resulting in an interesting texture, but soft finish.

Use
The hardness of the stone is a significant factor in the selection of natural stone for your application.

Marble is found in the mountainous regions of Canada, Italy, Germany, Spain and other countries worldwide and is a fairly soft stone.   Marble is ideal for use in foyers, bathrooms, floors and fireplace hearths.  Because marble is sensitive to discoloration when exposed to citric acids,
coffee, tea, alcohol and wine, we do not recommend it for kitchen countertop applications.

Granite is the preferred choice for kitchen countertop applications along with high-traffic flooring applications.  Unlike synthetic
surfaces that may melt under hot cookware, granite resists heat.   It is also one of the most bacteria-resistant kitchen surfaces and is not affected by citric
acid, coffee, tea, alcohol or wine.  Granite is also difficult to scratch, and with proper cleaning and sealing, will not stain in normal kitchen use.

Travertine and Limestone have been popular natural stones for interior and exterior wall cladding, paving and statuary.   Slate can be used for kitchen
countertops, fireplace facings, table tops, roofing and paving stones.   Sandstone if frequently used for fireplace facings, chimneys, garden walls, patio
benches and near the pool.
